Nether
How it works: Nether coordinates are 1/8th of Overworld coordinates. Travel 1 block in the Nether = 8 blocks in the Overworld. Y-axis stays the same (build portal at same height).

How Minecraft Nether Portal Linking Works
The Nether in Minecraft operates at a 1:8 horizontal scale relative to the Overworld. Every 1 block you travel in the Nether is equivalent to 8 blocks in the Overworld. This means the Nether is the fastest way to travel large distances.
To correctly link two Nether portals, divide your Overworld X and Z coordinates by 8 to find where to build the Nether portal. The GBNodes calculator does this automatically in real time as you type.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I calculate Nether portal coordinates?
Divide your Overworld X and Z by 8 to get Nether coordinates. Example: Overworld (800, 64, -400) → Nether (100, 64, -50). The Y coordinate stays the same.
Why are Nether coordinates 1/8 of Overworld coordinates?
The Nether has a 1:8 horizontal scale. 1 block in the Nether = 8 blocks in the Overworld. This is what makes Nether travel so much faster than walking in the Overworld.
How do I link two Nether portals?
Build your Overworld portal, note its coordinates. Divide X and Z by 8. Build a second portal at those Nether coordinates. The game links portals that are within 128 Nether blocks of each other.
Does Y coordinate change between Overworld and Nether?
No. Only X and Z scale by 8. Build your Nether portal at the same Y level as your Overworld portal for the best results.
